Plan:
This is my sgraffito project. I did not do it in the traditional way, in which you carve into the clay. Instead, I painted a white layer underneath a thick yellow layer of underglaze, and then used needle and signing tools to scrape off parts of the yellow layer underglaze in order to reveal the white beneath.

Reflection:
The carviing method I used worked extremely well for creating a pattern on the project. It was easy to control where my lines went, which led to a cleaner pattern in the end.
However, because the method I used required me to coat so many coats of underglaze, and also to scrape off coats of underglaze, it took a while. In the future I would likely try sgraffito techniques where I cut into the clay as that would take a much shorter amount of time. I would also likely choose colors that contrast each other more, so that the pattern would be more visible.
